A tree in a storm
I had waited for an hour or so for a lion pride in the Maasai Mara, Kenya to stir as a storm started to brew around me. Eventually one of the lionesses woke but the photographs I took didn't capture the atmosphere I had hoped. Turning around I realised the sky was even more dramatic behind me where a lone tree stood on the horizon. I switched to my wide-angle lens and waited for the clouds to move, so the tree would be bathed in the light from the setting sun, and increased my white balance to add some more vibrance to the scene. The result, which was far more satisfying thatn any of my lion images, encapsulated one of the Mara's less publicised attributes - its landscape.
