Portrait of a lIon

Shooting with a telephoto lens allowed me to capture this intimate portrait of a male lion who, while lying on the ground, briefly gazed curiously skywards as I flew overhead. The tall grass would have served as excellent cover for an opportunistic hunt should an unsuspecting prey species wander too close.
